Welcome to the year 2008!!! We had a fun time celebrating with some of our friends here in Pittsburgh. Thanks to Brooke and Cody for hosting such a fun party. I think we planned on actually playing some games. And I even saw Brooke get all the games out, but we all ended up talking instead. Which I of course love. :) At midnight, we stepped outside to see some fireworks, and I think I saw ONE! All these hills in Pittsburgh and no benefits. It was a great time ringing in the new year. And a HUGE thanks to my wonderful mom for babysitting my kids. For those that wanted it, here is the White Chocolate Bread Pudding recipe. And for those that have never tried it. . . MAKE IT!! It is so tasty. White Chocolate Bread Pudding
6 large French croissants
4 egg yolks plus 3 whole eggs
3 ½ cups heavy cream
½ cup Bailey’s Irish Cream (I obviously ignore this)
2 cups big white chocolate chunks
1 cup good quality dried cherries
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 ½ cup sugar
¼ tsp salt
Butter to coat baking dish (I just used PAM)
Raw sugar to sprinkle on top
Cut croissants on an angle (1-inch slices) and place in the4 bottom of a buttered baking dish. Add the chocolate pieces and cherries on top of the croissants. Mix together the yolks and whole eggs, cream, Bailey’s Irish Cream, vanilla, sugar, and salt. Pour mixture over the croissants/chocolate/cherries, pushing them down until all the liquid is absorbed into the bread pieces. There will be lots of liquid. Sprinkle raw sugar on top.
Bake at 300* for 30-40 minutes. This dessert should remain very soft and moist. Start checking after 30 minutes. Filling should be soft-set, but not dry. Serve warm.
My mom gave this recipe to me and I actually didn't even know what Baileys Irish Cream was. :) We just added more milk instead. And it is delicious!!!

really you didn't play games. remember if the games come out that means the conversation sucks. consider it a compliment. Although, if she started to get them out... I dont't know what to make of that. I wish we could have been there. I went to bed around 10:30. BOOO
I guess the conversation was lagging a bit while she was talking to some other people.
Okay, I am just a game lover. I love playing games, so I got them out in the hopes of playing, but really, the conversation was just too good. It felt so good to laugh so much last night- we missed you last night, too, Rachel. And think of it this way, you stayed up until 1:30 our time- what a partier.
Oh, and the bread pudding cake was really, really yummy, especiall warm. mmmmmmm
Happy New Year! Looks like a great time. Nothing better than some good conversation.
Happy New Year! So did you make any new year resolutions? Are you going to have another baby this year?! (HA!)
Looks super fun! I, too wish we could have been there - bummer! We did get to go cosmic bowling with some friends here (yes, we actually have made a few), and say happy new year at 8:30 pm (that's Pittsburgh time - so we are not such partiers as Rachel).
Thanks for getting the recipe on here! It was a good time, although it was too short lived for us. I think I was in the middle of washing my face for bed at midnight. Awe well :(
sounds like fun. i love adult parties! i think i'm going to have to make the bread pudding-so yummy!
I'll be making that bread pudding for sure. Delicious! Sounds like a fun party.
The bread pudding sounds great. And what are you talking about skipping the alcohol. You've always been such a boozer. Sounds like fun.
you love talking? that surprises me! :) I have to try those yummy treats. I of course could use a bit more goodies, I didn't get enough extra calories over the holidays! loved your card too, your kids are so cute!
I am not skipping the alcohol, but doubling it! That should make for a really fun time.
Looks fun! Happy New Year Jana!
You, talking?? No way! And I love the comment by Kari..another baby this year! LOL. We missed you out here, wish you could have been here.
Sounds like some fun Holiday's spent here in ole Pitt. Wished I could have been around, but kinda not at the same time. The kids look cute all Christmased up. Like my verbage?
When I see the games come out, I do my best to distract eveyone's attention from them. I save all my controversial comments for then!
