Just breathe!

Today was all planned to be wonderful. We woke up at a decent time this morning, had a peaceful breakfast (Noah still threw all his toast on the floor), the boys got their swimming suits on, Ellie took an extra long morning nap and I got to do my run on the treadmill. We ate lunch and got loaded in to the car. We picked up Nadia, the worlds best babysitter and headed to the pool. Yes, I was running a bit late, but it was still going fairly smooth. Keep in mind what it takes to go to the pool for a mom of three under three. I had to pack the bag full of towels, regular diapers, swim diapers, sun screen, water, hats, snacks, swim toys, wipes, and all of my personal things i.e. lip gloss, sunglasses, lotion, gum, blah blah blah. So, here we were. At the pool. I paid the fees, and we set up camp. Applying sun screen is a process as I am terrified of the kids getting skin cancer. You all remember my tan? It is so dark! HA! We are set. In the water we go. And BOOM! Thunder strikes. "Attention Attention. Due to an electrical storm the pool will be closed. Please exit the pool and its facilities." NO WAY!! Do they know what I went through to get there? Mostly I am struggling with the idea of having to take my babysitter home after only 45 minutes. I LOVE having her and I want my days worth. So she stays. We ran errands and she stayed in the car with the kids. That was extra nice. What life was like with just one. Ahhhhhh. . . I dropped Nadia off after a couple of hours and back to the pool to try again. Oh yeah, you read that right. Except this time I did it all without an extra pair of hands. And of course. . . thunder strikes. We all go home, the kids very sad. Me, mad. And now I have to make dinner. BOO!! All the while Noah having one of his usual grand mal seizures. And to be completely honest, grand mal seizure isn't quite describing it accurately. Times it by 50. And then it is closer to how it was. My house was oh so pleasant for a solid hour. What was his fit about? WHO KNOWS!!!!!! Jason came home, we ate dinner and I sent him out to get Max and Erma's cookies. Did anyone know they make white chocolate chip macadamia nut now? Hello! And now I am ending my day just trying to breathe.

Oh Jana, you amaze me! If this is an Ensign article, it is about patience. ha, ha. (And your blog doesn't look like an Ensign article, even if Jason thinks it does).

Holy crap, that was quite a day for you guys. Sad that you didn't get to go swimming:-( You're so brave to try that with 3 kids under 3. I just had a panic attack as I thought about going out with 3 kids...scary! Hope you enjoyed your Max and Erma cookies...why do cookies make everything better? xoxo

Getting out the door with three kids is HARD! I can't believe you are going to fly with all three next week. I told Carly we'd have to get together again when you are in town. How long are you here? Noah sounds like a pistol.

And to reply to your comment on my blog, um NO, Lars is not sleeping through the night. We are up at least twice. How long does Ellie sleep? And if she is sleeping all night long, I am going to be so mad at you.

I am so sorry about he tantrums...I feel you there. Hey side note, how do you get "invited" to Amy's blog??? Anyway - you are quite amazing. My blood starting boiling after one throws a tantrum... you gotta love it.

Yikes!! You are an amazing woman, that is all I have to say...and you are making me nervous about #3 coming along. But I have to admit it does make me feel better to read that everyone else goes through it at times too :-)

yeah, we went to the pool after the second time it was closed due to storm and spent about 30 minutes there before it was closed once more. Gotta love the eletrical storms in pittsburgh! But we were so blasted hot, we thought the little half hour was worth the 12 bucks we paid.

Yes - we will be in Utah for the 4th, then we head to ID for a couple days. I will be back down on the 8th (to Utah) until the 11th. Lets think of something for sure!!!

I feel your pain. We went to the beach yesterday with a big group of friends and I actually rode in my friends car with her. Anna saw the yummy new pack of pringles I bought for us to snack on as I buckled her in and immediately needed some. Well, not my car and I'm not about to start handing out those precious chips to all five kids driving with us. So I simply promise her that as soon as we get to the beach we'll open them. Cue tantrum, by the way her cry is one of those really high pitched ones that makes you crawl out of your skin. She screamed the entire way to the beach, this doesn't seem so bad since the beach is only 10 minutes away, except for the fact that we went to a new beach 25minutes away. By the time we got there I yanked her out of the car and threw her (safely) onto the sidewalk. I am trying desperately not to beat my child while I have three other moms with me yet let her know that I AM REALLY MAD! I can't carry her and all the beach gear so I basically drag her along the side of me with her in hysterics and Madison walking so slowly in front of me I keep clipping her heals, cue her cry! By the time we get to the beach I am almost in tears and I think to myself, what was I thinking having another one...I AM CRAZY! Gotta love those moments. NOw, to all of you with just one, not everyday is like this, but when they come they really hit hard! I love this blogging thing!

Your details are so vivid and I appreciate your honesty. I can relate with your swimming experience b/c it is a sweat-filled and intense moment to do! It's scary having kids that can't swim!! And to think that you are making all these efforts just to give them a fun afternoon and secure an early bedtime:)

Keep on postin' these "real" stories b/c we all love 'em.
